Sanding to Remove Mold from Wood
Sandpaper is sometimes used to help remove deep mold from wood surfaces. Fine sandpaper ranging from 120 to 220 grit works best to lightly hand sand mold from affected areas. Sanding the affected areas may cause some damage to the finish of the wood, so it might require refinishing once the mold has been completely removed. It is a good idea to refinish the wood, not just for the appearance, but also to help prevent a future mold outbreak. If you see signs of mold, call SERVPRO of North Rensselaer/South Washington Counties (518) 677-3444 to begin the mold remediation process.
