Sewer damage in Bennington, VT

We responded to a loss in Bennington VT where town sewer had backed up into a homeowner’s basement. We called in a local sewer company and they extracted the initial sewage and disposed of it properly. We then were able to wash and extract the remaining residue on the concrete. We sprayed an antimicrobial over all affected areas and set up our equipment to dry. If you have a sewer loss in your basement, and you have flooring put down or there is material on your walls, our protocol is to remove any porous material that sewage has touched, and any non-porous materials will be cleaned. If materials on your wall are affected, don't worry, we don't remove the entire wall. We would do what is called a “flood cut” on your walls. This is a cut one foot up the wall from the floor in any affected areas. This way we can dry the wall behind and also disinfect.
