Mold Remediation in finished basement
In this job in Averill Park, a homeowner came back to their second home for a weekend, and had found water in their basement along with a very strong smell. As the homeowners looked further, they found mold throughout the entire basement. Upon our inspection we found that a supply line to their water tank had a slow leak. With no one being home to find this leak, the water had migrated through the entire basement. Since the basement had high humidity and warm temperatures, this was the perfect environment for microbial growth. In this before photo, you see one of the worst areas which was behind their cabinetry. The water had wicked up the drywall, and since it had the perfect conditions and remained wet for this extended period of time, the mold grew rapidly. An industrial hygienist was called on site to test the air quality, and we were then given the protocol to remove any non-salvageable porous materials that were affected by the mold. After demo was complete, all areas were hepa vacuumed and then treated and cleaned with an antimicrobial agent. The area was then tested and passed an air quality test, which then meant the area was cleared for a contractor to start reconstruction.
