Fire- Due 4/2
If you suffer a fire loss in your home or business there are a few different steps to take to get things back to normal.
- Step 1- Structural Cleaning
After fire or smoke damage a technician from SERVPRO of North Rensselear/South Washington Counties will come determine the extent of damage. Your property will need a thorough cleaning of the ceilings, walls, woodwork, carpeting and floors. The technician will use specific equipment and cleaning products that are required to clean and protect different surfaces. Depending on the amount of soot left behind, there’s a possibility of reducing the cost of recovery by cleaning lighter soot deposits found on some surfaces. Other surfaces SERVPRO will clean to “prepare for painting”. This process deodorizes and ensures that when painted the new paint will adhere to the surface.
- Step 2- Contents Cleaning
Area rugs, furniture, draperies and upholstery are contents that smoke and fire damage can affect. These restorable contents in affected areas will be professionally cleaned and deodorized. The contents will be inspected and tested to determine which methods of cleanings would be appropriate. All other restorable contents will be cleaned and deodorized to the condition before the loss occurred including electronics, art, wood furniture, kitchen items, clothing, bedding, and much more. SERVPRO of North Rensselear/South Washington Counties can provide both wet and dry cleaning services. Our crew members can also create and provide and inventory list of all “to be claimed” items if requested.
- Step 3- Deodorization
SERVPRO does not just merely cover-up lingering odors with some fragrances, we provide specialized services that rid your home or place of business of offensive odors left by fire or smoke damage. We seek out the sources of the odors and remove them.
